41 Days Until POPIA is Live!

Small Business?  You are still subject to The Protection of Personal Information Act.  The good news? Your needs are simpler than those of a big business.  No need for fancy lawyers or highly-paid consultants. If you know what to do.  How will you learn that?
Invest in this POPIA course at a reduced price during May.

The POPI Act (POPIA) is YOUR Problem...

The Protection of Personal Information Act. AKA the POPI Act, or POPIA, goes live on 1 July 2021.

It applies to everybody who holds data on other people.  Do you have an email list on your laptop?  A list of phone numbers on your phone?  Then it applies to YOU.

Say your laptop is stolen. Say you lose your cell phone. If you did not take "adequate" measures to protect that personal information, you can be liable for R10 million in fines or 10 years in jail.

If your laptop is missing, or if your cell phone is lost, how will you prove you took "adequate" measures? Nice Catch-22.

Here's a free course that tells you what the law says –in plain English.
It's as long as a typical evening seminar, but online.

Go here for more information and to sign up: Free Online POPI Act Training.

Did we mention that there's no charge for it?

Do You Use Excel?  Making Mistakes is Easy!

Finding errors is hard! But they can kill your company! In 2012, a London Olympics employee accidentally typed in “20,000” instead of “10,000". The Olympic Committee then sold 10,000 tickets for non-existent seats at minor events. They had to upgrade them to major events —at a loss. Get this FREE report on preventing Excel mistakes..

Don't Get Caught in a Vehicle Purchase Scam

In these scams criminals place online adverts for fake vehicles, at discounted prices to attract buyers. These advertisements usually include photos matching the description of the vehicle and contact information of the seller.

Once contact is established, the fraudster sends the prospective buyer additional photos along with an explanation for the discounted price. These stories typically pull on the heart strings and pressure the buyer into making an urgent part or full payment to secure the vehicle.

Once payment has been made, the scammer disappears and the money is lost.

Thought for the Week:

I think this is an important thing, is that it takes a long time to figure out what you're good for. Part of where I'm at right now and where I got eventually, was really trying to spend time on doing things that only I can do. Even when I can do something well but someone else could do it, I would try and let that go. That's a discipline that I'm still working on, which is not just things that I'm good at, but things that only I'm good at. That was something I was sort of trying to start early on, which is like, "You know, a lot of other people can do this, and they're happy doing it. So I want to go somewhere where it requires more of me to do, and then I'll be happier and they'll be happier." —Kevin Kelly, originator of "1000 True Fans" on the Tim Ferriss Show, Episode 25.

Do You keep Repeating the Same Actions in Excel?

Stop wasting precious time! Save an hour or more a week: Get your life back. How? Learn simple Macros: Record the repetitive action once, repeat it fast with a single keystroke whenever needed! This quick course will get you started fast:  Read more here.

This Free Webinar will Orientate you for POPI

"We're running out of time regarding POPI.

I'd value you sharing this free training invitation with any small-business owners you know.

From June 30 we must report ourselves when we lose a laptop or a phone, or we get hit by ransomware. (Or any of a bunch of other mistakes.)

After June 30, we face fines and the threat of jail.

Even a tiny fine during this crazy COVID time will drop each of us into business closure.

Join me on Wednesday for an hour to look at three simple secrets which make POPI simple for small business owners. You'll also get a list of all the training available in SA. (It's not a long list.)

Click here to join me online at 8 pm Wednesday to get small business answers to POPI.

I speak simple English. Invest an hour in getting an English explanation of POPI and how easy it is for small business owners to stay safe.

Warm regards
